Ignited Discovery Donates Blade Servers to First Time ComputersARLINGTON, VA -- After designing a second-generation grid system around a virtualized environment, Ignited Discovery was able to significantly scale back its server needs – cutting down on power and cooling requirements on site. And while the new grid system significantly improved processing speed, it also freed up a total of two full Verari Blade racks. Ignited Discovery donated those servers – a total of 176 – to a local nonprofit called First Time Computers. FTC works with at risk youth to refurbish computers, which can then be donated to eligible local families. The charity was started in 2003, and has been providing Washington, D.C. youth a valuable skill set while supplying families in need the tools to succeed. Since the Verari system uses commodity hardware, FTC will be able to convert each blade server into a usable workstation – meaning up to 176 families or groups in the D.C. area will benefit from the donation. Ignited Discovery is proud to be a part of FTC’s work to better our community. Press Contacts: Ignited Discovery |
